Scott Schwefel ’87 participated in the 2026 Connecticut Legal Conference at the Connecticut Convention Center.

Joe DeFeo ’94 is starting a new position as Director of Development at Team Wilderness.

Rebecca Bednarz ’97 writes, “A privilege to have contributed to the making of this special exhibition and to the ongoing illumination of the triumph who was sculptor Edmonia Lewis.” The exhibition was featured by Forbes, The New York Times, and Boston Art Review.

Matt Schnipper ’01 will see his memoir, Rise Above — “An unforgettable memoir of fatherhood, grief, and the life-saving power of love and art in the wake of unimaginable loss” — released by Random House this July.

Hillary Cohen ’03 was featured on The Tie-In Podcast, which discovers net zero solutions behind-the-scenes of the hosts’ favorite music and movies. Hillary appeared on season 3, episode 5, which aired on February 3, 2026. The episode is titled “From Frustration to Action: The Ripple Effect of Food Rescue with Every Day Action.”

Warren Yass ’03 joined Deel as a Sales Development Representative on the Deel IT team.

Leonard Borriello ’03 AX started a new position as Vice President, Global Financial Crimes, Global Banking & Markets, Monitoring & Testing US Regional Lead at Bank of America. He also graduated from the University of Connecticut with his third, fourth, and fifth degrees in Political Science, History, and Geography, received the Academic Excellence Award in Geography, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society.

Gregg York ’04 is starting a new position as Associate Director Lab and Facility Operations at Dyno Therapeutics.

Stephen Cherry ’04 AX is now a locksmith for the University of Hartford. He also has started his own independent comic called SDot Comics.

May Stoffer ’05 just earned her Master’s in Arts Education.

Bulaong Ramiz ’07 is excited to share that Shaking the Table: Survival and Healing Amongst Identity Center Practitioners, co-edited by Stephanie Hernandez Rivera, PhD and Jonathan A. McElderry, Ph.D., will be released on November 24, 2025, through Emerald Publishing. After 15+ years in higher education, Bulaong finally put pen to paper and captured some of her experience in her chapter titled “It Is Better to Speak: Public Testimony as Survival, Resistance, and Healing.” She is honored to contribute to this powerful collection amplifying the voices of those who serve in identity-based centers and continue to work to transform education spaces and the world.

Christina Williams ’09 is starting a new position as a Therapist at Pasadena Villa Outpatient.

Rachel Rose ’10 has started a new position as a Senior Manager at StraighterLine after nine years at Berklee College of Music.

Ryan St. Pierre ’10 is a software & product developer in Denver, CO.

Maja Matwiejczuk ’10 is a board-certified nurse practitioner at Integrated Dermatology of Enfield and Simsbury. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Central Connecticut State University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Early in her career, she worked in Emergency Medicine at Hartford Hospital. Maja continued her education at Simmons University in Boston, MA, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Master of Science in Nursing. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and enjoys treating patients of all ages with acne, rosacea and atopic dermatitis, as well as many other common skin conditions. In addition, she has exceptional training in the early detection of skin cancers.

Carolyn Seiger ’11 is the Lead Instructional Designer at the National Center for School Safety.

Rob Sargent ’12 is starting a new position as Senior Underwriter for Cyber and Technology E&O at AXA XL.

Samantha Peikes ’14 is starting a new position as Planning Coordinator for the City of Auburn, Maine.

Sumner Alperin-Lea ’14 is joining Alberta, Canada’s Quantum City as their Scientist in Residence.

Mikayla Birney ’15 just received her MBA in Business Administration from Saint Joseph University in Philadelphia and was promoted to Executive Underwriter at Chubb.

Samantha Troy ’16 is a senior creative strategist for Inkitt and just wrapped up working on Life Is Not a Game! She describes, “Watching this story evolve from page to screen, and seeing how thoughtfully it was adapted from the book, has been an incredible experience. Being on set offered a firsthand look at the level of collaboration, creativity, and intention behind every series Inkitt creates. From the early script conversations to watching scenes take shape in real time, it’s been inspiring to watch the pieces fall into place. So excited for this upcoming release!”

Lee Block ’16 completed an internship at the Council on Foreign Relations, where he supported research for “America Revived,” the latest Council Special Report. The Report analyzes five theories of American grand strategy and proposes a sixth to sustain U.S. leadership in a contested international environment.

Qiu Yu Hong ’17 graduated from Columbia University with a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling.



Gabriel Silver ’17 started a new position as Hargrove Event Manager at Encore.

Siobhan Boyle ’19 AX will be attending The University of Texas at Austin to pursue a Master’s degree in the Cultural Studies of Education. She is excited about this next step in her academic and professional career.



Taylor Lemus ’19 started a new position as an HR Coordinator at Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider LLP and has graduated from University of Connecticut School of Business with a Master of Science in Human Resources Management.

Eve Doolittle ’19 graduated from Thomas Edison State University and is currently a Legislative Intern for the United States Senate.

Michael James ’20 volunteers for Best Buddies, a nonprofit organization with a mission to create opportunities of leadership, employment, and strong friendships for those with intellectual and physical disabilities. Michael and his buddy Derek were awarded Best Buddies Connecticut’s top champion of the year, raising $78,000 and breaking Best Buddies Connecticut’s fundraising record.

Charles Sinche ’21 assistant-directed a play at American University in February 2026. He assisted Nikki Mirza with staging, choreography, transitions, and understudy rehearsals. Charles also led group warmups and served as the primary liaison between the director and cast, and helped cultivate a vibe of respect and dedication to the work in the room.

Hermoine Dixon ’21 started a new position as Recovery Support Specialist at the Institute of Living’s Family Resource Center here in Hartford. She adds, “This is in addition to my continued research with the Center for Research on Racial Trauma and Community Healing and other independent research projects alongside some truly amazing psychiatrists.”

Sarah Biying Li ’21 recently graduated from Carnegie Mellon University’s MS in Business Analytics program at the Tepper School of Business. This past year has been full of learning, challenges, and unforgettable memories. She is especially grateful for the amazing friends and classmates she met throughout the journey, and for her family’s constant support every step of the way. Sarah is excited for the next chapter ahead.

Morgan Birney ’22 just received her Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Temple University in Philadelphia. Morgan has accepted a position with Hensel Phelps General Contractors in the DMV market area.

Tess Brown ’22 graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Communication with a major in public relations. This March she was named the top female honoree for the “Peach of an Athlete” award, selected out of all female athletes across all disciplines in Georgia and those with Georgia roots across the country. She was recognized for her All American horsemanship and for the pen pal project she initiated in her junior year, which connected a small group of college athletes with 4th grade elementary students at a public school in Athens. The project was so successful that the Southern Equestrian Conference is looking at ways to implement it in other schools within the conference. After graduation, she will be working in NYC at Loeb, a private equity firm.



Julián Chaparro ’22 recently graduated from Muhlenberg College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Studio Art. He says, “The past four years have been full of beautiful challenges and many opportunities to learn and grow as a student, artist, leader, and as a person. I am extremely grateful for experiences like Greek life, independent psychological research, teaching, volunteering, and studying abroad, all of which have challenged me in different ways, helping me to understand the world in a different light. I am looking forward to the challenges that are yet to come and seeing where they will take me!”

Charlotte Miller ’22 just graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in Animal Science and Marine Conservation. She spent one of her last semesters in an indigenous village studying and conserving marine life.



Amaya Mitchell-Howard ’22, a DI track and field athlete and senior at University of Nevada Las Vegas, has joined Voice in Sport as a VIS Creator, where her role will be to create meaningful content for women in sport. VOICEINSPORT is a community for girls in sport (13-23) with access to mentorship from women athletes and wellness sessions from experts. Amaya is a distinguished Dean’s List honoree who makes the All-SWAC Honor Roll and is a proud track and field athlete and SWAC Champion in the weight throw, as well as an Outdoor Runner-Up Medalist.

Elise Adamenko ’23 started a new position as a data and media associate at Marist Poll.

Jamella Weir ’24 was accepted into the Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) Career Prep Program on the Finance Track at Northeastern University. “This opportunity will allow me to strengthen my professional and leadership skills, gain mentorship from industry professionals, and connect with a community of ambitious, purpose-driven peers, all while preparing for a successful career in finance.” She was also elected President of the Northeastern Caribbean Students’ Organization (CSO) at Northeastern University.

Ryan Rickevicius ’25 is the new Baseball Student Manager at Quinnipiac University.
